// THE LIST OF MY DESIRES //

Lately I’ve been trying to disconnect from the online world. Sometimes I find myself constantly glued to a screen - whether it’s the TV, my laptop or cell phone. There is so much inspiration online that it can be overwhelming. Scrolling through Pinterest, looking at blogs, stalking Instagram, or watching films... it’s all so fast and so all encompassing.

This past week has provided the perfect excuse to take a step back. It was Easter weekend and then my birthday on the 22nd. We had my husband's family visiting from Sweden and so made the most of the long weekend. Instead of sitting on my sofa in front of Friends, I was out exploring Zurich. I love it when people come to visit because it gives you the excuse to be a tourist in your own town. I was totally reminded of how beautiful Zurich is and how lucky I am to live here.

For my birthday I was given 'the list of my desires' by Grégoire Delacourt. I just finished it today and, I've got to say, it really got me thinking about what I want from life and how to go about getting it.

Something I've always loved is hearing about what inspires people. I'm a firm believer in the idea that inspiration is everywhere and that you just have to open your eyes to see it - whether it's food, traveling, books, art or just buying a new striped romper at American Apparel. Sometimes the littlest things can be the most inspiring. I'm trying to get back in touch with what originally made me love blogging. The spontaneity of it and the ability to put across how you're feeling without having anyone edit your work is what I loved so much about it when I started this bad boy back in 2009. When I started blogging I never thought twice about who was reading what I wrote and I just posted about whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I want to get that spontaneity back but I also want to have some structure. To give some regularity to my posts I'm going to start a new feature that focuses on individual people and what they find inspiring. I want to look at all sorts of sources like books, magazines, food, culture, the outdoors and art. I also want to ask people what's on their list of desires. Whether it's something little like a new swimsuit or something big like starting a charity. In order to accomplish what you want you've first got to admit to yourself that you want to achieve it.

THE STYLE CRUSADER ON TOUR [SUMMER DATES]...

London_Photo_Diary1.jpg

London, I love you always and forever.

My recent trip to England was #insane. So many wonderful things happened and every day felt like a total whirlwind. Highlights included: staying with Charlie May and Lexxie, meeting the people behind Tank Magazine (Kim and Caroline are amaaazing. Yes, Caroline ISSA, she told me I was gorgeous and I pretty much died. I've adopted her as my mentor even though she doesn't know it yet). I discovered Shini has WAY too many shoes, went to the Nelly party, ate lots of burgers and milkshakes and managed to catch up with some of my favorite PR people including Susie at Trace, Harriet at HPR, Rachel at Shine and the stuffed bear at Varg (we had a little cuddle). I had so much fun. I got to ride a Boris Bike and roam around east London like it was nobody's business. I got lost every day. I FINALLY did some summer shopping (at Aubin & Wills) and I got to spend an afternoon with VV Brown and Nik Thakkar. Love. That was all in one week... no wonder I came back home exhausted.

This coming summer I'm doing a bit of a traveling tour. For simplicity's sake I'll keep my plans updated on this blog post. Things always tend to change last minute but at the moment this is what my summer is looking like. Also, for the record, I work freelance and have time to take on new projects... so if you want me for anything please holler this way (stylecrusderBOOKINGS at gmail.com). Merci. xx

p.s. long term plans for the blog include a book (which I've recently started writing) and a mentorship program. If you'd like to talk to me about either of these two things or support the cause please let me know. I'm looking for sponsors and people to work with. Kiss kiss.

LET ME LIVE IN A FLOWER MARKET PLEASE...

111.jpg

Please can we arrange for me to live inside a flower market?

There is nothing I love more than being in London on a sunny Sunday. Why? Because I love Columbia Road Flower Market (so much). When I was last in town I spent an unusually warm day lazing about the market. It was so crowded but I loved every minute. I wore a double printed look from Aubin & Wills which I love. It's super soft and silky. Perfect for feeling easy and breezy but looking a bit put together.

p.s. yes, posing with a potted flower plant was essential (although highly cliche).

Wearing: Everard skirt and Willington vest with white Converse. Props: flowers and yellow SIGG bottle.

Massive thanks to the Cat for keeping me company and taking my outfit shot.

Black & White

Completely obsessed with this simple slouchy silk dress. Love the oversized arm holes and elongated back. Thank god I put on a pair of shorts underneath - the wind was acting like a nasty mother. Marilyn Monroe might be chic but no one needs to see my (heart print) pants.

Chilling in a window sill...

Hiiiii from London. Yes, I'm still here. I'm writing to you from the sofa of Charlie and Lexxie's house where I've been staying. Thankfully they haven't thrown me to the streets yet. The UK's bipolar weather patterns are starting to wear on me. Clear skies are a massive rarity. When they hit people go mental with excitement and sweaty men decide it's acceptable to walk around with their shirts off (eww). The weekend was awesome because it was el scorchio which meant I could go bare legged. Nothing makes me happier. Now it's freaking freezing again. Boo. The misery.

p.s. flowers are officially my favorite accessory for spring.

Ooo, la la. Summer lovin.

FLORAL LEGS...

Man, I failed on my vow to wear only black until hot weather came. Oh well, please forgive me... I guess I bore quickly. Plus, the lure of spring is just too strong. Instead of baring my legs I've decided to cover them in floral prints. I'm probably guilty of wearing skinny jeans far too often but at least these make the standard shape feel somewhat new. I like wearing them with this Muriee T-shirt that has a faint pink polka dot pattern on it. Perfect for doing a bit of print clashing but discreetly.

Wearing: 7 for all Mankind Garden Party jeans, Muriee T-shirt and cashmere scarf, Sambag tote, Bottletop Luciana purse, Moxham pink clutch, Rayban aviators, Topshop ring, Madewell jacket and Zara shoes.
